Nationals sign 7th round pick Kevin Keyes

The Washington Nationals have come to terms with Texas OF'er Kevin Keyes, their 7th round pick in the 2010 draft.

No terms of the deal were given, but Keyes is now an official member of the Vermont Lake Monsters, the Washington Nationals Short Season A Ball team.

Dustin McComas of orangebloods.com confirmed the signing on his twitter page while also speculating that Keyes signing bonus was worth 125,000 dollars.

Spoke with a source that informed me Kevin Keyes signed with the #Nationals, and will begin his pro career soon. Congrats to Kevin. #UT

Keyes reportedly signed for a bonus of around 125,000 dollars, which is above slot for his spot. #UT #Horns

  1. What do you think of this kid? I know you were really excited about their first round choice, but I haven't ever heard of this one.

  2. I watched him play at Texas for the last two years. He doesn't really leap off the page at you with his stats or anything, but he's got a lot of drive and is willing to work hard to improve. I think he has a lot of upside.

  3. just an update, We love Kevin here
in Hagerstown. He's playing the outfield well, but he contributes
    "Keye" hits often.
